The Safeguarding God’s Children and Safeguarding God’s People ministries of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas are the way we ensure Church of the Cross is always a safe, whole, and life-giving environment for all the people, friends, and guests of the ECC. Certification in Safeguarding God’s Children is a six-step process:
- Be known to the congregation for at least six months.
- An interview.
- An on-line application.
- Reference checks.
- A background check done by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas.
- Attend a training session.
The certification process is to be completed in ninety days. One does not need to have completed all elements of the application process to attend the training, but one does need to have made an application.
To get started in the Safeguarding God’s Children certification process, please be in touch with Paul Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org or Emily Pellegrini at email@example.com. Thank you!

Words of prayer for this week…
Almighty God, we entrust all who are dear to us to your never-failing care and love, for this life and the life to come, knowing that you are doing for them better things than we can desire or pray for; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
God our Father, whose Son our Lord Jesus Christ in a wonderful Sacrament has left us a memorial of his passion: Grant us so to venerate the sacred mysteries of his Body and Blood, that we may ever perceive within ourselves the fruit of his redemption; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Heavenly Father, whose blessed Son came not to be served to but serve: Give us the grace to follow in his footsteps, and increase in us the spirit of servanthood; that with wisdom, patience, and courage we may minister to the suffering, the friendless, and all in need, for the love of him who laid down his life for us, your Son our Savior Jesus. Amen.
