Welcome to Jon Slimack, Youth Minister with Church of the Cross!
We’re pleased to announce that Jon Slimack has accepted a call to serve as Youth Minister with Church of the Cross! Jon brings to this ministry experience working with students and households, a heart for young people, and a passion to see students grow and mature in their faith. As youth minister, he’ll be ministering with students in grades six through twelve and their households. Jon begins his service with Church of the Cross on Sunday, October 28. We hope you’ll be with us next to welcome Jon, and greet him and his wife Jordan as they worship with the ECC!
ECC Response to area flooding
Many area communities have been affected by the recent rains and flooding. Here’s how the ECC is responding at the moment:
Prayer: With special intention, please place before the Lord those affected and displaced by the rain and floods.
Donations: We will funnel donations of materials through Austin Disaster Relief Network. Specific requests from ADRN are for new undergarments (all sizes for adults); new socks (all sizes for adults); baby bottles, formula, and diapers; inflatable mattresses; box fans; new bed pillows and new blankets. We are also invited to donate clean up supplies: Brooms; heavy duty mops and mop buckets; shovels; utility knives and leather work gloves; 30 gallon contractor black trash bags. To give an ADRN Care Kit Survivor Care Kit, please go to www.adrn.org/give and select the “Survivor Supply Registry” button. Items are listed online to build care kits at home.
Bring these items to worship, and we’ll get them to ADRN.
Service: We’ll stay in touch with ADRN and other groups about opportunities to help with clean-up. When we know more, we’ll pass on that information.
